PCS 405: Marriage, Sexuality and Just Love

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course presents an inclusive, egalitarian understanding of the Sacrament of Marriage. It explores the topic of Christian sexual ethics within this same framework. Students integrate ministerial experience with contemporary theology in marriage preparation and rituals.

Rev. Dr. Juanita Cordero

Juanita holds a Master’s degree in Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from Global Ministries University. She was ordained a Catholic Deacon on July 31, 2006 the feast of Ignatius of Loyola in Pittsburgh, PA. and was ordained a Priest on July 22, 2007 feast of Mary Magdala at the Immaculate Sisters Chapel in Santa Barbara. She is presently one of the Presiders of the Magdala Catholic Community in California. Her many ministries include: teaching scripture classes in her parish, breaking bread with others especially with the Upper Room Inclusive Catholic Community in NY., serving the unhoused at Our Lady of Refuge, and becoming an Ignatian Companion as a facilitator of the first -year group. Juanita is a certified spiritual director, a program Companion for candidates in ARCWP as they journey towards priesthood.

Rev. Dr. Mary Theresa Streck

Mary Theresa is one of the founding members of the People’s Catholic Seminary. She holds a Doctorate in Education Leadership from the Sage Colleges and a Doctorate in Ministry from Global Ministries University. Mary Theresa was ordained a priest on September 15, 2013 in Albany, NY and is a member of the pastoral team at the Upper Room Inclusive Catholic Community in Albany, NY. She presides at liturgies, officiates at weddings and offers sacramental ministry and is an active member of the Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests .
