PCS 501 - VOICES ON FIRE: PROPHETS AND PROPHESY IN HEBREW BIBLE

This course introduces students to prophecy in the Hebrew Bible as a religious, ethical, and social phenomenon. Through historical context, literary analysis, and theological reflection, students will encounter prophets as complex human beings called to speak divine truth in times of crisis. The course emphasizes prophecy as covenantal communication rather than prediction and explores how prophetic voices continue to shape moral imagination, spiritual discernment, and pastoral ministry within contemporary faith communities.
